Chainmail Coif: Also known as Head Chainmail, the Chainmail Coif is a type of sleeve made of interlocking chains that usually is paired with a cloth hood to prevent irritation from the wearer. Chainmail Coifs are commonly worn by Barbarians and Clerics, as they are not overly cumbersome.

(Chainmail Coifs gain Armor and Defense; they are the most balanced of the early headwear pieces.)

War Hat: A wide-brimmed metal cap used primarily for deflecting arrows from the head. War Hats usually come with a small chainmail veil to cover the back of the head, giving them a full-circle method of protection.

(War Hats give both Defense and Armor, with higher Defense than Armor in later iterations.)

Close Helmet: A type of helmet commonly used by Knights in jousting bouts, the Close Helmet is a full-metal helmet that has a sliding visor that warps outward, creating a beak-like appearance. The helmet's design is mostly made to allow the wearer more uninhibited movement of the head.

(Close Helmets are the most balanced of the higher-tier headwear; they gain both Defense and Armor; they also gain Initiative in later iterations.)

Plate Helmet: Sometimes referred to as the Pot Helmet for its cylindrical shape and resemblance to a large cooking pot, the Plate Helmet is the most stalwart of the helmets available. Pound for pound, it is the most durable piece of headwear primarily used by Knights, and can withstand the battering of blows much more than any other headwear can muster.

(Plate Helmets gain Defense and Armor, with more Armor gain in later iterations.)

Hail, Reginald. I thank you for this codex you've put together regarding gear found commonly in Anestoril and less frequently on these shores. The merchants in the keep are all abuzz with these missives, and I personally have seen some strange new items in the dungeon beneath the 'cano; half-shaped between what I am familiar with and what, I think, might mirror what you've posted here.

I wonder if you have now awoken some strange new craft on this island.
