Disappeared item pictures for July client

The new client is nice (and it's nice to see the status effects for the monsters), but all of the pictures of the items I am wearing or that are in the inventory are gone. Additionally, the mouse cursor for the game is an outline of what it was, and the Medievalands logo looked a bit sickly on login It's like the top layer that's supposed to be drawn on everything has disappeared.

The game is still playable, because tooltips and the outline of the cursor, but a significant amount of the visuals have disappeared! Eeep.

Fascinating (and troubling)! I should fix this as soon as I can. Silver, would you please zip up your My Documents/Games/CommunityKit and send it to me at hello(at)medievalands.com, or find some other way to get it to me? I think there may be a file conflict between the old version and the new version, but without seeing the files I can only guess as to how to fix it.

(If you're sending a file through Gmail, I've noticed that you may need to change the file extension from .zip to anything else, like .zzz, to get around Gmail's executable file exclusion system).

Sure thing. You can expect the e-mail shortly after I finish posting this message.

Hey there Silver;

I had this issue after the client was updated recently; you might want to back up the files in the installation location for MedievaLands, delete the entire MedievaLands folder, then reinstall the new client from scratch; this seemed to fix the issue for me; I worked with Zane on it a bit earlier, but we didn't quite find the root cause.

That should get you up and running again, at least. Follow Zane's steps in regards to getting the old version compared to, that should be helpful in narrowing down the culprit.

Thanks Regi! I think we are closing in on a potential issue - like you hypothesized, there's some leftover crud in one of the folders which should be being cleared, but isn't...

I should have a fix for this in the next client.
