Features/Update Request

I'm not sure how much of the original engine is being used vs. a recreation of the game, so I thought I'd throw this up here. If nothing like this is really possible, feel free to nuke this post.

1) Fog of War: I play on multiple machines or may reinstall the game. It would be great if map progress was stored server side instead of locally, so we can log in on a given character from any computer and see what parts of which maps we've revealed.

2) Scrolling: For things like the forum here, or in the tavern or guidhall, it would be great if the mousewheel could be used to scroll up and down lists.

Thanks again for everything you've done thus far. This is awesome!

I like the second recommendation; however, the maps aren't something I would consider worth the time it would take to reprogram. Although I know nada about programming!

I'll look into scrolling!

I've discussed the difficulty in storing automaps serverside on the github repo at github.com/ZaneDubya/CommunityKitPublic. I invite you to be a part of that discussion.

The things that stop me from doing this are:

* Would increase save size on the server by 9000 percent.

* Would increase network traffic on entering and leaving a map.

* Would allow a player to potentially cheat by manipulating their automaps - this is the ONLY thing that is handled by the client; everything else is serverside.

This would take me time to implement - but not a lot. The biggest concern for me is the save/load burden. Right now the save file for the entire world is 354kb. This would expand that to a 32mb file. And it would only get bigger as (hopefully!!!) the population continues to grow.

I heard this may be an un-popular opinion, but I would love to explore the idea of slight balance changes to the classes. Knight/Barbarian seem to be the only things playable in the high/end game and that seems accurate based on me remembering the old INN days. Since we have a 2nd chance at this game and playing it again, I would love if we could consider small class balance changes that would bring them all more in line in terms of survivability. Just food for thought.

Hi everybody=)

To put my two cents in (heh) i don't think the map thing is worth the part about the loading and stuff liike Zane was talking about, even tho in theory it's a really cool idea.

I LOVE the idea of the mouse wheel being compatable in the forums and like when looking at items to buy.

I also have to admit that i thihk the idea someone had about balancing the classes a little more so there is some chance of survivability would be freakin' sweet.=) LOL

I certainly do love that a little piece of INN is back online. Love meeting new friends and discovering more of the cano!!=))

Take care all,

Calindel - I agree (and it's commonly understood) that the classes are not well balanced in this game. I am not going to adjust the underlying mechanics in this iteration of the game. But I think there is a broad space of possibility for a reimagined and rebalanced Yserbius-type game that would work alongside this one. I hope to take that on once this version is complete.

(I have made only one change to the mechanics of the original game - you are no longer penalized for visiting stat-adjusting areas in the dungeon before you max out your character at level 25.)

Bluelite

cam o put the old ys music back into thr game

ZaneDubya

No, I'm not going to include the old music in this game. I sent the old music to Yserbius.org - please ask there if you want to download it and play on your end. You can mute the music for this version in the options menu.

ZaneDubya

Hi all,

Please send new feature requests to the github repo at github.com/ZaneDubya/CommunityKitPublic

Thanks!
