Having just come fresh from defeating En-Li-Kil, I noted a pain in my right hand. I though twas maybe the strike of a foul demon. As it turns out twas inflicted by a mouse. Once one gets up into the 20,000 range of health, healing using the healing spell becomes quite a chore especially when crossing foul bodies of water.

Does the game design lend itself to hot-keying a heal button?

There actually is a hot-key for healing; I found it's CTRL+H. It doesn't work in combat, but it works on the overhead map.
